Don’t Let Language Be A Barrier

Blog

A few weeks ago I booked Oreo’s Mexico – it could have been difficult with 7 people on the session & most did not speak English – DON’T LET LANGUAGE BE A BARRIER!

I don’t speak Spanish well…but I speak it well enough to understand most things. Only 1 person spoke English well, she would what was discussed but I paid attention so I had a pretty good idea what direction was coming.

Learning the basics OR just paying attention can make any directed session better regardless of language.

For example, a buddy of mine lives in the USA but does about 80% of his business in Europe. He knows very little of the foreign languages because they want a US English talent – he keeps getting booked for more! Working internationally is difficult…but it doesn’t have to be impossible – don’t allow language to be a barrier. That goes for both the talent and buyer. If you try a little you can get a lot!

Welcome New Radio Stations

Blog

The past few months have been very busy on the radio station imaging front.

Welcome to these new stations – very excited to be part of the team.

WNOW/Indianapolis

I love voicing WNOW in my backyard of Indianapolis. It’s fun getting to hear the magic when I run to the store, gym or just get in the car with friends.

My amazing agent at CESD Talent Nate Zeitz got me on one of the biggest top 40s in the country!

KBIM/Roswell, NM

Moving over to a format I’ve really started enjoying over the past couple of years I have started voicing KBIM in Roswell, New Mexico. County music is quickly becoming a favorite.

Thanks to the great people at Vanilla Gorilla I have loved every minute of The Country Giant!

KBGL/Larned, KS

Also thanks to Vanilla Gorilla I just joined the team of KBGL in Great Bend, KS starting in Feb 2022. The format I grew up listening to & loving!! Top 40 has always been my favorite format. Pop culture has always been engrained in me so it feels so good to be a part of another top 40 station.

WAMW/Washington, IN

Last but not least WAMW AM/FM in Washington, IN. When I heard “classic hits” I was thinking 70s but NO WAY! I get to have fun with pop music (see above) from the 80s & 90s! It’s amazing!!

The past few months have been nothing short of amazing and I have so many to thank for the opportunities. I can’t wait to keep these partnerships going well into 2022 and many years to come.

If you’re at a radio station, starting a podcast or wanting to start your own streaming station click here to get in touch! Feel free to send a sample & I’ll get it back to you within an hour or two.

You Have A Great Voice Does NOT Help Your Business

Blog

Are you a business owner?

Has an employee told you, “I’ve been told I have a great voice” – that is NOT good for business.

A woman in your office who tells you “I’ve been told I have a great voice.”

…and she may. But she is NOT good to brand your business. Why? Simple…he/she is not a pro!

You want to be seen as a pro right? Then ask yourself “why wouldn’t I hire a pro?” From an internal training video to commercial work to your phone system you need your branding to be consistent and more importantly PROFESSIONAL!

Here’s my challenge to you – think about the branding your business has done then ask yourself, ” is there anything consistent with it?” Odds are your answer is no.

Using the person in the office with the great voice may seem like a great idea…but is it?

Now On CESD

Blog

I’m now a part of CESD Talent!

I couldn’t be more excited to announce I’ve joined the roster of CESD Talent!

First, I wanted to say a very special thank you to my agent Nate Zeitz (click his name to email him directly) for not only bringing me on but for getting me on a great, iconic, heritage WNOW in the city I live in!

If you or someone you know is looking to add or change a voice talent for any radio format please email Nate or me. I specialize in Top 40, Country and Sports. However, I’m open to trying any format! You can hear me on classic hits, classic country and even polka (ok…that’s not true but it would be fun.)

My great client Mosiac just made a great list for 2021. Very happy to be part of their team & excited for them.

What Do They Do

They are a full marketing agency and I’ve been part of their roster for a number of years (thank you Tim & Mary) with locations in Indianapolis & LA – they have their finger on the pulse of marketing in 2021.

Resolutions Are Actually Reset Buttons

Blog

Happy 2021! It’s true…New Year Resolutions Are Actually Reset buttons — not a goal for the new year.

Happy New Year 2021
Happy New Year! However, a New Year Resolution it not a NEW challenge…it’s a reset button.

Here’s why.

**WE ALWAYS TRY TO CHANGE THE SAME THING(S) OVER AND OVER – it’s not a new thing so we’re actually trying to reset our habits not fully change them.**

So…how many times has your resolution been to lose weight or eat better or get more sleep? Something you have wanted for years and years. That isn’t a NEW thing…it’s a reset to try again.

How is your reset going so far in 2021 more than a week into the year? Are you still struggling? Here are some tips how to reset your resolution:

How To Reset Your Resolution

  1. Doing something 27 times makes it a habit – you can do it! Little by little you can do it. Make baby steps.
  2. How badly do you want to make a change? If you sorta do then it won’t happen but if you really wanna change you can.
  3. Find someone to hold you accountable. It works! Depending how much you want them to call out your BS but be prepared if you fall off the wagon to get called out.

Those are some great tips I created after reading an article from Parade magazine that had some good ones…but they were small and simple. Thought about this…always a good idea to start small & refresh your habits for next year. Read the 55 suggestions HERE. Pretty sure you didn’t think of all (if any) of them.

How Have I Reset?

One of my resets for 2021 was to listen to more podcasts (my excuse has been “I don’t have time”) but I realized I need to make time! I’ve been voicing The Story Of A Brand for a while now and it’s well done & educational for sure. If you’re looking for a new podcast give a listen HERE. Love Ramon & his content – if you are looking for a new one in 2020 give a listen.

More blogs about tech & more on my blog HERE.

Conclusion

Resolutions Are Actually Reset Buttons!
